1. FILM FESTIVAL AWARD

We are pleased to let you know that we have just received word that UNDER JAKOB'S LADDER is a winner of the Redemptive Storyteller Award for 2010! The award ceremony will be held in November at the Redemptive Film Festival in Virginia Beach, VA.

An aptly named award, considering that one of the themes of our film relates to forgiveness and reconciliation! More details about the film festival to follow the closer we get to the event...

2. A NEW JAKOB COMIC

Another installment of the UNDER JAKOB'S LADDER comic strip... #4 to be exact. Join Jakob, Yasha, and the prisoners as they stand in line, waiting to get their portion of "balanda" (that's what the prisoners called the not-so-tasty "soup") from Bruno.

Click here to view the comic strip.

All drawings by Lizzie Hupcey, our storyboard artist on the film. You can read this and the other installments of the comic at our website... http://www.cubecity.org

1. FROM THE EDITING ROOM...
============================================

We know that everyone is anxious to see our movie, UNDER JAKOB'S LADDER. But believe it or not, we're still doing some troubleshooting in the editing room. It's the tiny things right now. One render can take up to a day (and/or night). And then we watch for glitches. A misplaced clip. An effect that isn't as smooth as we intended it to be. Lips that aren't quite in sync with the dialogue. Disappearing music.

We appreciate everyone's patience. And as you wait, we hope you enjoy the first installment of our JAKOB comic strip...

============================================
2. A JAKOB COMIC
============================================

Introducing the very first in a special series of...

Well, a comic strip. An UNDER JAKOB'S LADDER comic strip, to be exact.

Click here to view the comic strip.

This comic strip is inspired by scenes from the movie, as well as story ideas that did not make the final draft of the screenplay.

All drawings are by Lizzie Hupcey, our storyboard artist on the film. You'll see many of the main characters brought to life in 2D! With the special technology of paper and pencil. (Or whatever Lizzie uses.)

So, while you wait to see the REAL movie, we hope you enjoy this...

» Read the comic at our website...
http://www.cubecity.org

P.S. Got an idea for Lizzie to draw? If you think you have a scenario for the comic strip, please send us your idea. If we use it, we'll be sure to dedicate that particular comic strip to you! Send us your ideas

Instead of a quote, we'll be giving you a joke. Hey, it goes with the comic theme, don't you think? And since we're on themes, we'll stick with an old joke from the Soviet Union...

A frightened man came to the Secret Police, the NKVD. "My talking parrot disappeared." The NKVD man said to him, "This is not our case. Go to the criminal police." The man replied: "Excuse me. Of course I know that I have to go to them. I am here just to tell you officially that I disagree with that parrot."

1. BRING ON THE INSERTS!
============================================

One year ago, we were in the midst of principal photography for our feature film UNDER JAKOB'S LADDER.

We know that many of you are anxiously awaiting the movie's release. Well, believe it or not, we've returned to the editing room! Back in the fall of 2009, we were reconsidering our opening to the movie. We had made the decision to take the prologue and place it inside the movie to function as a flashback.

But as we prepared the movie to approach various distributors, one of our team members mentioned that they missed the old prologue. So, we sat down and watched the different incarnations of the movie's opening. We realized that yes, the original prologue needed to go back.

And that led to discussions for adding some inserts that we didn't get while filming a year ago. Inserts of close-ups of hands or feet or props. So, about a week ago, we got together a small skeleton crew and went back on location to get these shots.

So, that means we're back in the editing room...

Stay tuned. When we have the good news of the movie's release, you'll be the first to know!
